There is a great need for volunteer adult literacy tutors. The ideal candidate for tutoring has a love for learning and a desire to make a positive difference in someone elses life. These individuals are committed to equity and diversity and want to support learners who are experiencing barriers related to disability and mental health. Volunteer tutors meet with a learner once a week for two to three hours to work on developing numeracy, reading and writing or computer skills. Volunteers also support the learner in developing short and long-term learning goals. Program staff provide training and ongoing support for volunteers during their time with the organization.
